The Bagua Map

The nine life-areas Feng Shui maps onto your home. Shown in both the Compass (classical) and BTB/Western schools — because they genuinely disagree about how to place it.

Two established Feng Shui schools place the Bagua differently, and both are shown here rather than one being picked for you. Classical / Compass (Luo Pan) fixes each life-area to a real compass direction — this is the older, traditional Chinese method and the one this tool defaults to. BTB / Black Sect ('Western') instead aligns the Bagua to the wall your front door sits on, ignoring the compass — a 20th-century adaptation popularised in the West. Where they disagree about which part of your home governs, say, wealth, that is a genuine school difference, not an error.

  • BTB three-row door-aligned grid per the Black Sect (Lin Yun) method as documented on thespruce and mindfuldesignschool
  • Lo Shu magic-square numbering is standard and shared with the Xuan Kong Flying-Stars system
